
About the Hudson Childrens’ Book Festival
The Hudson Children’s Book Festival, established in 2009, is held each year in the historic city of Hudson, NY, and strives to create, nurture, and sustain a culture of literacy in partnership with our community and schools. This free, public event fosters a love of reading as families meet and greet world-class creators of books for children of all ages.
Our 15th Annual Hudson Children’s Book Festival set for May 2nd 2026 – 10:00am-3:00pm – at Columbia-Greene Community College!

We are elated to share that Susan Hood is joining us at the 15th annual Hudson Children's Book Festival! Here are some fun facts about her:
1. I’ve sailed from Tortola to Bermuda to Connecticut on a 38′ boat. Three days out we lost our engine, navigation equipment, and lights!
2. My great-great-grandfather was a lighthouse keeper.
3. As a writer, I’ve gotten to meet some of my heroes–Ruby Bridges, Jane Goodall, and Arnold Lobel!

1. My current favorite flavor of ice cream is Oreo Cheesecake (this changes frequently).
2. My family fosters cats and kittens. We have fostered nine cats so far.

Be sure to stop by Olana after the Hudson Children’s Book Festival! The free bus will stop there too!Here’s a preview of what to expect at Frederic Church’s 200th birthday celebration on May 2:
In partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension, Hawthorne Valley, The Sylvia Center, and 4-H, the afternoon will feature interactive, educational experiences inspired by the natural world that shaped Church’s work.
Additional highlights include family-friendly offerings such as a complimentary photobooth, visits with farm animals, and giveaways from regional favorites including Stewart’s Ice Cream, BjornQorn, and Hudson Valley Seed Company, available while supplies last. A selection of local food vendors will also offer refreshments for purchase.
Olana will also be a stop on the free shuttle for the Hudson Children’s Book Festival
